Our Story
We’re a husband and wife, a local family living in Brentwood, and a household where food has always been a big deal.
Kids perched on the worktop, arms covered in flour. Recipes cooked, tasted and tweaked over the years. Family around the table, with something to celebrate—or simply something good to eat.
Khoya started there. In our own kitchen, and around the fire in the garden. With a love of cooking and a dream of opening the kind of Indian restaurant we wanted to visit ourselves.
We’ve brought Khoya to life. You’re the ones who keep it going. Every visit, every friend you bring and every good word you share helps us grow.
Sticking With It
We weren’t restaurateurs. We were foodies with a clear idea: Authentic Indian Dining, beautiful surroundings and a warm, personal welcome.
It took more than two years to make it happen. We trusted experienced people and were badly let down. There were moments when opening the doors felt a very long way off.
But we kept going. We listened, learned, questioned advice and followed our hearts. Experience matters. So does knowing what you believe in—and having the determination to see it through.
Khoya is what happened when we refused to give up.
Nothing to Hide
We opened up the kitchen because we’re proud of what happens in it.
Food cooked where you can see it. Colour that comes from fresh ingredients. Flavour that comes from live cooking.
No synthetic food colouring. No artificial flavours. No acid tenderisers. Our grills get their time in a 24-hour marinade, with care going into the preparation long before your order reaches the kitchen.
We taste, refine and keep working on our dishes. If we’re putting our name to it, we want to be proud of it.
We Dare to Be Different
People tell us our menu is different. To us, it’s Indian food as we know and love it, as it should be. As it is in India. Shaped by our family kitchen and recipes created over the years.
We’ve brought those influences together with highly qualified chefs whose experience stretches around the world. We encourage their ideas, challenge each other and keep tasting.
The design, décor, recruitment, recipes and finishing touches have all had our personal attention. Khoya is a place we’d want to spend an evening ourselves.
No tablecloths. No fan-shaped napkins. Just beautiful surroundings and great food.
Properly Local
We live here. Khoya is part of the community we belong to.
We employ local young people, train them, encourage them and give them room to grow. We work with local suppliers and get involved—from family summer fun days to theatre events and school sports days.
There’s more to come. We want to build a restaurant that contributes to the place we call home.
